Custom Engagement Rings
Sasha's Custom Engagement Ring
I designed this engagement ring for Sasha with the intention of proposing to her in July of 2023. Given her love for the outdoors and nurturing her houseplants, the design centers around a nature theme.
The ring features a central stone secured by four leaf-shaped prongs, complemented by two larger gold leaves on either side. The band's size and profile were meticulously tailored for a comfortable fit.
Andre's Custom Engagement Ring
My engagement ring design draws inspiration from both nature and my passion for engineering. The honeycomb hexagon serves as a prime example of how nature's elegant designs can inspire innovative engineering solutions.
The ring boasts a seamless hexagonal pattern encircling it entirely. Each hexagon is intricately recessed to create a pocket, allowing for enamel paint to be applied individually. Additionally, the band's profile was meticulously crafted for optimal comfort.
The Casting Process
The CAD files, along with material and size specifications, were forwarded to RaceCar Jewelry and their craftsmen began the production process.
Firstly, they employed a high-resolution 3D printer to create a wax model, utilizing SLA technology. This model was then embedded into an investment plaster mold, which underwent curing in an oven, simultaneously melting away the wax and forming a negative cavity.
Next, precious metals were melted and poured into the cavity, left to cool, and solidify. Subsequently, the plaster mold was removed to unveil the newly cast rings. These were then hand polished to refine their surface quality and finish.
Lastly, a thorough check of the ring sizes was conducted, ensuring they met the desired specifications.
